Since Alan was nice enough to send me a Flying Wing is great shape I have been using it a bit. It seems to me the it shaves a lot like a HFT. I enjoy the shaves with it. Anyone else think the shaves from these two razors are a lot alike?

I do like my Flying Wing. That is if that is referring to a Bullet Tip. I'm kinda new to all the acronyms for SE razors. I'm unsure of what an HFT is though Anyway Mine is on deck for tomorrow morning. An old NOS in the case with the blade holder. But the case isn't as classy as the older Gem cases. Compared to my OCMM or Shovel Head it's a bit milder but still not so mild as to be a pain to use. I will admit to preferring an open comb but this one doesn't get in the way too bad.

Yes, Flying Wing/Bullet Tip, same thing. I too think it shaves similar to the HFT (Heavy Flat Top or G Bar). I like the feel and balance of it. Once you learn how to drive them they give a close shave.

As a matter of fact all 5 of my SE razors have been smooth and worry free. A testament to the blade itself I guess. One odd thing about my Flying wing though was that it came with a Double edged Single edge blade. Stamped GEM on the blade and notched for Micromatics but without a spine and sharpened on both sides. Thanks again Alan !

Indeed both razors have the similar head design. Though I haven't weighed them both, the Bullet Tip seems slightly heavier the TTO design is also very nice. I've used both quite a bit if I had to differentiate it feels like the Bullet Tip is just a tad more mild (though of course everyone has their own opinions). I also find that it has very good balance (then again I love heavy razors).

I find the flying wing to be a paradox. It feels quite mild, but gives a close shave like a far more aggressive razor. I have to work to get a similar shave froma HFT or FW.

Those were intended for the MMs and the head on a Flying Wing is pretty much-identical so the blades would fit. You don't often come across an SE that old with an old blade like that in it. Maybe it was parked many years ago.
