You know...I never met an injector I didn't dig....and the same is true for the early Schick Magazine Repeaters....hmmmm
I'm thinking you can't go wrong...So I'm giving you a link :
www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schicktech.htmThis link has pictures of every basic model Schick...I'm thinking if you look at all of them and read a little about their characteristics...Then just get whichever one you think is cool...
Then if later you want to go more aggressive or milder you will know which way to go....I'm now gonna run down some of my opinions of various models...now these are my opinions so ymmv...
I think the repeaters are too cool for school...I have the C3 repeater and it shaves as good or better than any razor I have, so you see Schick got it right from the beginning...
The repeaters are cool, but they are a little harder to find and might cost a little more..
Injectors as a rule cost less than classic DE razors...You can find them all day for $10-15 ...The only ones that defy this statement are like.....
The D type...these are hard to find and now seem to be going for $100/$150... They were the first injector and were only made for maybe a year, People like to collect them, many say they are the best shaver ever...
The F type...same deal...pretty expensive but deals still can be found....The fans of this one say its the best shaver ever...They only made these for about a year before WWII broke out and an aluminum shortage cause production to stop. These are all metal, can be brought up to a high shine, and they are a perfect balance between aggressive and smooth...
The G2 and G3 are either gold filled or gold plated respectedly...These guys are typical G types, but its the gold that brings up the price and the fact each was only made for a year...
Now the rest are very inexpensive...and great shavers aswell....So lets run down a few basic characteristics...
E types, this would be my suggestion. I think these are the archtypical injector...the early E2 opens for cleaning and is the most aggressive of all Schicks...Later E2s would not open...the later ones are not quite as aggressive...all Canadian Schicks had the E heads...
The G types..some think the Gs are a tad less aggressive...
H...was a ladies fashion razor, with no handle...I hear they actually shave great!
I...actually mild but still efficent.
J...These are even milder than the I types.
K...same as the Js
Ls...modern...very mild but still great shavers
M...the adjustables....
N...look like a trac II but are injectors
O...hard to find...the last made by Schick...these are very mild with standart blades but pretty great with the Schick Twin injector blades (a trac II type injecter blade)
Thats pretty much the Readers Digest Condensed version of Injectors for Dummies....ha,ha...Look through the pics and see if one or two knock you out....
The most popular ones are the:
E types...it shaves great and the E2 opens to clean...but some feel they are a little too aggressive...They are not any more aggressive than the OCMM though, Actually very similar....
G types...easy to find...a little milder than the Es...
And the I2 is very popular because it's flat in the middle aggression wise...Plus it has the hydro-magic lever for cleaning...
And don't forget the repeaters...they have a cap and make excellent travel razors...
Have fun, and let us know what you are thinking....
