I just picked up this Warner Jones stropper/hone. It came with the stone, but the stop portion was toast. So today I made a new plate. It is twice as long as the original. I glued a new piece of leather to the block of aluminum. I copied the overall height of the original. Instead of the stone I will use lapping paper. My first attempt was with an old ER Radio Steel. I had stropped it on my ER Automatic Stropper in the past. It got to the point it was not getting better after stropping. I figured this will be a good test. I loaded the blade and marked it with a sharpie. I gave it a few laps on some 5 micron. The angle was pretty close. So off to the races. Giving it 20 laps on the 5 micron, I checked the edge with my loop. Very even stria but a tiny chip. 20 more laps and the chip was gone. I moved on to the 3 micron and gave it 20 laps making sure the whole time not to apply pressure to the fixture. then 20 more on 1 micron. finally 40 laps on the leather. The results was a very nice 3 pass shave. No tugging or burn. I will continue to experiment with this setup. It is the best for me so far in maintaining SE blades.

How many times can a blade be sharpened?

I'm not sure. I might have to ask the Tootsie pop owl. Seriously though if you are not too aggressive honing and Stropping. One might get 10 refreshes out of it.
I hope to eventually find out.

How is this working for you Tom? i have only used it the one time so far. I have a load of old SE blades that I want to restore. Work has been very busy the past few weeks. I get home and just crash. I did inspect the one blade I honed more closely. Under my loop it shows a very nice fine finish. Almost as nice as I get on my wedge bales. I will need to change the angle a tiny bit. It has a duel bevel. The only problem with this setup is, there is no positive stop for the blades. This causes the blade to have a different exposureeach time. That means you will need to adjust the height of the hone every time. Not a deal breaker by any means. I think this will work fantastic in the long run. I still plan to use one of my automatic strippers after every shave. The unpasted stop. Tom

Tried honing an Enders blade. It worked out very nicely. I will need to make a series of spacers for the bottom of the hone. As all the blade will have a different exposure from the end of the holder. Anybody wanting to use vintage blades may want to consider getting one. I use lapping film instead of the stone. It gives a mirror edge that is very sharp. Tom

That's very cool to say the least. But not for me. I have to admit I'm spoiled by the easy availability of modern shaving gear which includes blade of course. Except for the Enders blades, can't find those anywhere so maybe then.

I have one of these, a Canadian version, Cutmor, and find to be very helpful. I am using it here with a japanese natural finish stone and it puts a wonderful edge on reconditioned blades. I could reference a post on here theoriginalsafety2.com/post/19372/thread where I sharpened up a blade for an ER 1909, but unfortunately Photobucket has my photos on the gangplank right now and there isn't a photo of the sharpener in that thread any longer. : / It is nice to see that someone else has employed one of these as well. Great tool.
