I had it wrong, mine is actually a new version if what I've read is correct. The newer models have two small drainage holes and holes in between the teeth on the guard, the older ones have two large holes in the bottom plate and none in the guard bar. You can see the main drainage holes and the ones between the teeth in the shadow. I've got the newer version too. Strange, I've never really noticed the drainage holes in the guard. It really is an impressive razor. The blade stops are not just little pimples that stick up but more like blade docking bays. Every serious SE dude should have one!

Thanks again, now I know what to look for. I've never seen one for sale. Are they rare? I'd have to disagree with Shadowsdad. I think they are pretty rare. It took me a while to find one and I didn't care about the price either. I had to outbid several serious SE collectors. Prices are going northwards a bit but still less than your average user grade Fatboy. You should be able to pick one up for $50-$60. The equivalent GEM Jewel is one you see even less in my experience. Just for the record, you can't disagree with a question, only a statement. ;D I think maybe I'm being confused with someone else?

.....I think maybe I'm being confused with someone else? Oops, I meant Rocketman. In short, I think they are pretty rare. In my experience on e-bay at least, they don't come up anywhere near as often as early 1900 LCs and I wouldn't call them particularly common either.

Yes, I've never seen one on e-bay. But then I don't check it even close to regularly.

Never saw them. Is that e-bay uk?
Edit: I remember now when I was looking I got mine off e-bay.co. For some reason it doesn't show up on a world wide search. Also if you specify art deco in your search it helps. There's one listed there right now. Obviously they're as common as muck in the UK, Rocketman!

I rarely saw them for sale my self. When I did see them it was UKe bay, so that would be your best chance.

Can anyone rate the level of "aggressivity" (did I just coin that word or does it exist?) for me? Can you compare it to another razor?
Thanks gents.

To me it feels identical to a 1912 Damaskeene, just a wee bit heavier. Said in my best Irish accent.

The blade presents pretty much like it does in a 1912 - dammmy or regular in my opinion. However, the 'handling' is considerably different because of the weight and feel of the razor. It is hard for me to explain the difference but I find it drives more like a stiff pickup truck compared to a light responsive car. Cumbersome. That is just me though. Some folks prefer big stiff pick up trucks on the road!! (Not much help eh?)

Actually, quite helpful.
I'm still considering getting one, but it's on a back burner unless I find at a really good price. One never knows. I absolutely love the looks of it, but I like sportscars, yet I have a truck and one truck is plenty. Too, I have enough Damaskeenes, so yes, it's on a back burner.
Thanks guys.

That is a lot of ching for the bling. Don't think that is in my price range at all. Georgeous razor though.

You may be onto something, the vehicle I drive every day is a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab. Bright red. To me it feels identical to a 1912 Damaskeene, just a wee bit heavier.
