Beware the open comb Damaskeene, I think I read in that thread that they can be more aggressive. Not sure about that though. Anyway, that's not the one you want. You want the one with the comb you described. Yeah - if you find any that accidentally make it to your address, just repost it my way!!! ;D In the unlikely event that I end up with one, I'll certainly do that.

Blobby,
Have you tried the Pella PTFE Gem blades? I just thought I'd throw this out there because I was ready to give up on SEs in general until the kind folks on the page sent me some sample blades -- made all the difference in the world to me with the OCMM and all SEs in general. Just a thought. The drug store GEMs are NOT the same!

Just getting started with SE's and acquiring a few. The Flying Winng Bullet Tip was irresistable,I grew up in Florida not far from Cape Kenedy living and breathing rockets,my Dad was in the Airforce...it's in my blood. Been using a newly arrived Bullet Tip for head shaving because it's a natural....nothing else has ever been such a great mixture being smooth yet extremely effective.Haven't worked it into much face shaving yet because I like to use seperate blades & razors (one for face, one for head) to monitor blade longevity and I never swap blades from one razor to another. That said,my limited Bullet Tip experience for face shaving was impressive, efficient and a pleasure to pilot wherever I asked it to fly.Closed comb Double Edge razors have always been a let down for edging around the periphery of my goatee,When using them I feel I'm losing too much of a sense of where the edge of the blade is and lose accuracy... but for this task the Flying Wing performed admirably. I work 10 hour days and often need to accomplish a lot before I ever leave the house,a leisurely shave isn't always an option,I can already see the Bullet Tip would be on my short list of worthy No BS get 'er done...low stress / high reward, fast shave Go To Status Razors. This model rocket I built in Junior High has Flying Wing Bullet Tip written all over it....

Been using a newly arrived Bullet Tip for head shaving because it's a natural.... You are indeed one brave feller!!!! You don't hear that every day!!! Some, or many, would be terrified to give that a shot! The BT is not the most forgiving razor. You must be a NATURAL BORN SHAVER!

Razox, you go get 'em tiger!
The short time that I head shaved I absolutely loved the OCMM on the noggin. The only problem I had was with some scars. The close shave took a thin sliver of scar tissue off. No big deal. I wonder if I had continued head shaving if at some point the scar would have leveled out. I'll never know. BTW, no blood from the shaved scar tissue.

It's smooth runnin' - Seems much easier to maintain the right shaving angle from different directions. The razors head can lay almost parallel with the skin surface. I believe the stiffer DE blades in general work better up top no matter which razor I'm using.I know my 1912 Ever Ready worked well although the bullet seemed as smooth but more effective. Since almost all my head shaving is done against the grain.I'm thinking that I'm likely appreciating that SE offers less blade oscillation at the point of attack, equalling improved solid predictable results in comparison to Double Edge.

Head shaving's great in that it gives me one more test lab for blades and razors I've never used before. More demanding than face shaving IMO,I've found that if it works well up top it's a done deal for the face aside from tight spots around my goatee which can vary from razor to razor.

That certainly must be true. I personally have never shaved my head and have to admit I think I would shake like a DeHaven if I had to actually do it. That is why the stunned monkey dood reflects my thoughts well on using an SE for head shaving - I'm a head shave virgin and terrified of my first time! I gotta say - I am impressed with the comments on using this as a head shaver by those of you doing/done it. SE Salute!!

Never thought of one as a head shaver... I've been using a cart razor on my head as a DE didn't work out for me there... I'm about to find out...

Today I brought my gold Clog-pruf out of moth-balls and she was as shiney as I'm sure she was when first brought home 70 years ago for her "Maiden Voyage". As I look back on todays shave, I thought of a phrase I heard last year. Some children in my family were checking out "Mary Poppins" for their first time....there was a scene where checking Mary's height, the tape measure said, "Practically Perfect In Everyway..."
Thats it.....The GEM Micromatic Clog-pruf, is "Practically Perfect In Everyway" ! This one they got it all right.....
