... not a bad few days for bagging bits and pieces. Waiting to arrive: GEM G-Bar GEM Push Button Ever Ready 1912 Bathroom Set Ever Ready 1914 (Patent Pending) I already have an Ever Ready equivalent to the G-Bar and quite liked the shave but the spring clip had gone south and I wondered if a couple of odd strokes were down to the blade moving around. I bagged this G-Bar, largely to compliment the E-Bar, but also get a trouble-free shave out of it. In the meantime, I've fixed my E-bar with a little shim cut from a (DE ... shhhh!) blade. I already have a Push Button, in gold, so this plain one will compliment it nicely. I already have a bunch of 1912s, but this late British one came along and it seemed rude not to. The Bathroom Set has the Streamline handle, albeit a light version of it. I do have a late one with the light aluminium handle so I'm sure this will be as good. I already have ... you're seeing a theme here I already have a 1914, but this one is a "Patent Pending" and so will compliment my "Patented ..." one.

Excellent! You can't go wrong with collecting just about every SE razor out there even if they are just slightly different from each other.

I seem to be committed to a British, US, nickel and gold version of each ... of everything ...

The Bathroom Set arrived ... ... also, the GEM G-Bar. Fine. Nothing special, just a good razor.

Lovely handles. Try the G-Bar with a carbon blade. That combination is my go-to setup. For whichever reason, it provides an extremely smooth, irritation free shave even at 0400am. Far less aggressive than the other GEMs, but as efficient as an OCMM.

The Pushbutton arrived yesterday and cleaned up very nicely. It'll go very well alongside my gold toned one. I'm not convinced that this wasn't a gold tone which has been vigorously polished. That, or the nickel is coming off. It looks nothing like a gold tone in light, but it has a gold tinge to it.

Congratulations on the Push-Button. The two tone color scheme and the 50's design gives this model a wonderful classy look. The push button feature of this model and the Contour I (both of which I own) make them the easiest to work with. The push button feature on both of my razors tend to become a little bit tight to press. I got very lucky I got mine with all the works and paid just $8, the razor is also in very good condition. IMO this model is very mild.

I would like to add these two scans of the Push-Button's instructions for you.

I have a gold tone and managed a couple of shaves with it before lending it out. To me, it delivered more than the Featherweights and more than the Contours. Quite a gem, so to speak, in the later line-up.
Thanks for the scans.

I've gone absolutely mental over the last few days and I'm not quite sure why ...
Single edgers, I've got:
Valet VC1 - British (Patented 19/11/1923) Valet VC3 in Bakelike Box - again, British and matches my VC4 boxed perfectly Star 1912 GEM MicroMatic Bullet Tip (Plastic tipped) That Twinjector I showed the other day Ever Ready Streamline PAL Adjustable Injector
... I put up a posh car wax for trade on a forum, hoping for a Streamline. Blow me down, a fellow offered a Gillette Bostonian and some cash which went most of the way to a Streamline (cased) that I've had my eye on. Beauty!
In other news, I've let a Valet go ... a VC2 US Made in gold. It's gone to a chap who traded me a Tech and the PAL Adjustable.
I might be letting my Army & Navy Stores Valet VC3 (British) go if anyone is interested. It comes in a nice Bakelite box, strop and blade case. I'm still mulling that one over, since it is such a nice set, but I'm not a hoarder of duplicates and my self-imposed limit of one shelf for razors is getting to bursting point.

Interesting ... As part of another deal, the fellow chucked in a couple of extras including a nice soap and an Ever Ready razor. Cardboard boxed, plastic case - blue based, clear lid, British Made ER 1912 inside with Corrux blade and 'New Improved' leaflet. Very nice, I thought ... put it aside. The re-opened it since something didn't quite feel right. It's got what I call a chainmail handle. Not the chain link handle, but a finer mesh. This handle is lightweight aluminium! Not the heavy solid handle, but lightweight like the later round milled ones. This design ... this is not the razor, just the design of handle: Quite a catch Photos later ...

... a nice/poor Bullet Tip arrived today from the yip-yip-you-ess-of-ayyyyyy! Nice in that the head and baseplate are both clean and shiny, poor in that the handle is crusty and a little rusty. It's soaking in cola right now. It's a plastic tipped one. I also just pulled the trigger on a knurled handle 1914 in a box. Schick! Schick! £16 delivered, it's mine!

Wow more wonderful additions to your collection Paul. I love the look of Valet razors but they just seem to be average shavers to me (at least my VC1). I have occasionally seen the chain mail handle British 1912 in the metal case. I absolutely love metal or wooden cases above the rest.
I wouldn't sweat the condition of your Flying Wing's handle. I made a post a long while back about my ER 1914 & 1925 razors. My ER 1914 came with all the works and with a metal case. The head of my 1914 is pretty scratched but I don't mind. Those chain mail handle 1912's are extra nice!
