I am a huge fan of the Schick E and G types, as I know several other members here are as well. My only complaint, and it's a fairly minor one, is that I find the handles can be a bit slippery, especially the E's. It may just be my imagination but the Bakelite handles feel a little slicker when water or lather runs down them. Of all of the E and G types I have I do believe the G8 with the square, ribbed handle is my favorite.I normally prefer round handles but this style seems to be a perfectly ergonomic fit for me, which may be why I also love the I types so much since they have a similar style handle. I only have two, and they are identical except the one on the left has a much darker handle. Anyone else particularly fond of the G8?

Greetings
I agree, of all the G models the G8 is my favourite simply because as you say the grip and feel of the square handle is nicer than the other models. I do also think it is the ugliest handle of the G's and E's but I am more than happy to put up with that.
I personally am not a great fan of E Models I always seem to get weepers with them, they are definitely (for me at least) a whole lot fiercer shave than any of the G's.
I am also a really big fan of the next model of Schick the I1 which seemed to continue with the square handle theme and IMHO they made it even slightly more comfortable, I do only have medium to small hands and like short handles.
Regards Dick.

I personally think it is the PRETTIEST of all the injector handles...ha,ha...I guess YMMV.... My uncle had a turquoise G8 when I was a kid....I thought it looked sculptured...kind of like the Empire State building....I still think its a lovely example of ArtDeco....I'm currently keeping an eye out for one myself.....And I'm also with you on the I type handle....I only have one injector and its the I2.....I definitely think Eversharp's ideas for the short square handles were an improvement....};^) So the completely modern I2 was another homerun for Eversharp...And the G8, being a transitional model, might just be the best of both worlds...Having the modern handle and traditional head...I've never actually shaved with one, I've always dug them from afar....How do you guys compare the shaves between the G8 and I2....?

I like the handle design on the G8 and the more common G type with the smooth handle. Speaking of the E types, I find them to be rough shavers and get cut at least one cut when using them. Strangely, I can handle my more aggressive B2 but not the E. I like the two color variations that you have there. I can never really define these two colors well, one is white/cream the other ivory/butterscotch.

Greetings I find the difference in shave quality between the G8 and I1 (which is the same as the I2 minus the Hydromagic facility) is for me zero, or the difference is so tiny that I cannot detect any, I do find however that the I1 is for me arguably the most manoeuvrable and easy to use of all the injectors and arguably of any safety razor, however if you have very big hands you may not think this is the case as it is a short razor. Regards Dick.

Thanks for your views...I've often wondered....I have not had your experience with the older injectors.....I have used all the post I Schicks, PAL,.....let see....hmmm.....oh yeah, the Gillette Injector..BUT....I haven't tried the repeaters, or the pre- E2, or the WWII Navy Issue Black Handle....And my experience with Es and Gs has been very limited.....So of coarse I am very curious....I agree with your opinion of the I types from my limited experiance....They are my favs.....although I've never met a Schick I didn't dig....

I like more the type E rushes for more (or I think so). And it also has a good grip. But for taste .... Nothing is written!

I moved the blade into a cream handles J type this morning and got good results, just not as good as what I was getting with it int the G8. A bit too mild of a razor so I jammed it back into the G.

G8 ROCKS.......also the G8 is my birth year injector...G8 knocks me out on many levels.....we're lucky to have so many cool birth year razors......I pity the really young cats........until I have to run up 4 or 5 flights of steps....ha, ha.......No, if I was a super young cat, I'd just pick my Dad or Grand Dads birth year razors.....I mean, hey....my Pop's birth year razor is the ER 1924......looks like I have a thing for my Dads birth year razor and Im not even a young cat.....LMAO !

I like my G8 a bunch! Easy to use and a great shaver. But then, I like all the injectors I have at this point.

My favorite is the E. And the G model is also perfect.

As Injector I've just two Schick ... one E3 and one G8. I'm really in love with both. I've a little problem with the new one, the G8 aka Rib Handle. As you can see in the SOTD the base do not close so tight. I think the issue is in the arm wich blocks it. But I can not find the right way to fix it. Any idea??

Interesting thread, as I also prefer the G 8 handled injector over my other G types.....
In the hand it feels more like a Pal Injector with a Schick Head....I had my first shave with an NOS Schick Krona Blade in my Maiden Shave with the G 8 and I have never forgotten it.....I have used an NOS Schick Krona Blade in my G 8 ever since......For me personally its a Lovely blade combination for a four pass BBS shave .....I find the Krona Blade to be really sharp and smooth compared to current available blades....
I really like my E Types though....I have a real soft spot for my Canadian Type Es' in particular,......My Black Handled Canadian E Type is my most Vicious Schick Injector by a long shot....I was nearly put off it until I discovered NOS USA Made Schick Krona and Platinum Blades....I found the Personna's to be too harsh in my Type Es', but acceptable in the type Gs' ......I find the Canadian E Types to be very smooth shavers, but these "Babies" can "Bite" when provoked.....
One of my Canadian E Types is about the same as my E 3 in terms of aggressiveness.....My other two Canadian E Types have a wider blade gap than any of my USA made type Es' ....For me the E Types make excellent two pass BBS shaving tools....
I recently acquired a Schick Type D for a decent price....I call it "Flash Gordon"....I must say that the Type D/NOS Schick Krona Blade combination shaves as smooth as Silk compared to any other Schick that I own...Smooth as Icing on a cake....Blew me away.....Flash Gordon is quickly becoming my favourite injector.....
Great thread Guys
Billy

... the base do not close so tight. I think the issue is in the arm wich blocks it. But I can not find the right way to fix it. Any idea?? Pierpaolo, I don't own a G8 so mine is only an assumption, but looking at the various pictures you've posted in SOTD, it seems that the angle between the head and the handle has in some way been altered: it looks definitely too "flat" than the other several G-types that I have, which appear to be more curved. Could it be that the spring is ok and is this what is preventing the spring from exercising sufficient pressure on the baseplate?

@ PetrvsGrazie Pietro, but if I curve the head backside the arm will keep lower. And now the problem is more the moving of the base.
