Finished a can of Oriental Silk from Cornell & Diehl and started a can of Billy Budd by the same great people. Both are excellent.

It's -15F here, but I enjoyed Capstain Flake Blue in a Missouri Meerschaum Patriot to and from work today. A bit chilly, but the pipe helped take my mind off the cold drive. Cobs work fine in the cold, but I wouldn't risk a briar pipe in these conditions. The Capstain Blue is mild, with good flavor, but overpriced in my experience.

Bowl of Lane 1-Q before work this evening (night shift). My favorite thing about the 1-Q is that it is a stand along aromatic that is nicely understated. It almost has a floral taste as opposed to a full on sweet flavor.

Bought an "El morjane" Algerian briar pipe from the Bay. It was $15 shipped and new. I'm brand new to this. Smoked captain black original. Captain Black is all they have here. Couldn't even find any Missouri Meerschaum pipes locally. I got one of those on the way from Aristocob. This pipe does the trick it's just quite small. Anyone know where to order pipe tobacco online? I found this site but not sure if it is reputable and not sure what to get. Which is best bang for buck? www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/bulk/

I think smokingpipes.com is ok, I've also used pipesandcigars.com. If you like an aromatic tobacco and you want to buy in bulk, get Lane 1Q, pretty good stuff. If you want to look at some different types of cob pipes, go to Missouri Meerschaum direct at corncobpipe.com. If you want to try some different types of briar pipes, Dr. Grabow are hard to beat for starter pipes. I find them to be as good or better than my more expensive briar pipes. Hope this helps a little bit. Kevin

Hope this helps a little bit. Kevin I live in Chicago, in the inner city... Hard to believe Walgreens carries them in my area. A couple of smoke shops had some itty bitty cheap o corn Cobs with a Japanese sounding name. Called three more higher end cigar shops and they didn't have any. Most smoke shops here cater to the vape or marijuana crowd. I'm not sure as to the differences between aromatic vs non aromatic is. All I know is I can't stand the smell of cigarettes. Smells like a bar full of meth-dealing bikers. I confess I partly started pipe smoking to impart an aroma to the old school Jag I just bought. British leather and pipe tobacco is a winning combo. If that is what aromatic I want more of that coming.is non aromatic more in line with cigarette or cigar smoke?

Two bowls today. First was My Mixture 965 match in my 1920s Kaywoodie Drinkless. An excellent smoke.
Next I had some Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bull's Eye Flake in my Savinelli Rusticated Tortuga 606. I normally stick to OTC codger blends and English blends but I really enjoyed the mild sweetness of the Bull's Eye Flake this evening. A nice relaxing end to my day.

Not really, it's a third taste/ smell. You probably ought to try it, I find it hard to describe. But I struggle with all flavors and tastes to do so.

Aromatic also tends to smell better to the people around you.
