I have a Semogue 1438 which is a similar knot, well sort of... The 1438 is 75% tips and the knot is similarly sized. It rivals my Rooney 3/1 SS for softness at the tips, but I don't remember what the 1438 was like when new. It has more backbone than the Rooney though. I like the 1438 a lot. This time I wanted to try a 90% tips boar to see if there is much difference. I won't know for awhile.
I can't address value of a Semogue compared to Omega (the 2 big names in boars), but the value of a quality boar is right up there with the highest quality badgers, for a lot less $. They may take some time to break in, whereas badgers, if they break in at all, do it in a few days. A boar might take a month or 2 to reach full potential if it's used every day. My 1438 was pretty good right out of the box, and so was this when I lathered it to wash it. But of course it isn't as soft as it will be.

Got the skinny plastic Jr. cleaned up, came out much better than I was first thinking. Also picked up a nice little stick.

That is a really nice set Fuzzy!! A Standard Damaskeene I be guessin. From 1912-1918/1919. You are in for some comfy shaving! The case appears to be quite nice too - good catch!

I believe that it is the 1940s model that came in the black plastic sliding lid case with a cardboard shipper. Those razors, like others intended to fit in a slim case, had a narrow middle frame so they would fit in the case. NIce shaver!

Picked up this mint Schick I1 Injector. It's so clean it almost looks unused. Looks great. What does the handle look like? Well, it's ivory colored, larger at the bottom than it is at the top, and looks like no one has ever used it. No scratches, nicks, stains, or dirt. Not sure that's what your asking about, but there you go.
