Today I received a box from Louisiana. It was a loaner package from our very own Fuzzy. it contained the 4 Schick razors on the right. For comparison, I included my own Type E Schick, [far left], that seems to be a bit on the aggressive side. Left to right is type E, G1, I(Hydro-Magic), J, and L. The first thing I noticed is the obvious difference in blade gap. The E model has a much bigger blade gap than any of the others. Hopefully, this will mean smoother shaves with the four try out razors. I was going to try out the newest first, then work my way to the oldest model. But now I want to try that sweet-looking G1 model first. No matter what, I will keep you posted on my unscientific findings. The plan is to use the same brush, shave soap, and new personna blade with each shave. One razor, one day, one shave. Then the next razor with a new blade. Two passes and a touch up is my standard habit, but that isn't set in stone. Thanks goes out to Mr. Fuzzy for this really cool opportunity.

Aaaah, where do I start. I could not believe how different the G1 is from the E3. The "blade feel" from the G1 is much less than the E3. But the cutting of the whiskers did not decrease. The entire first pass was smooth and easy, even on the front of my neck, a sensitive area for me. The second pass, against the grain, felt pretty good with no irritation. What surprised me was how close of a shave I got for such little effort. It was a BBS on most of my face already, and I wasn't even trying. Just a little touch up on a spot I missed, and I was done. No irritation, no nicks, no cuts, no errors. I am VERY impressed with this razor. Tomorrow will be the "Type I" Hydro-Magic.

Glad it worked out!!

Oh my, what have I started? Plans for world domination? Might as well trudge on. Friday morning shave with the "I2 Type" Hydro-Magic. New Personna blade and same brush and soap. A smooth shave, similar to the G1 from yesterday, but ... not quite. If the G1 was a 9/10, this I2 was a 8.5/10. Not to say it was disappointing by any means. It was nice and easy. Smooth and close. Now for the bad news. These two razors have been so smooth and easy that I got a little over-confident and careless with my technique. I received a small nick on my lower neck. Totally my fault. A small red spot on an otherwise perfect shave. Makes me wonder if there is more of a difference between razors of the same model, than there is a difference between the G and I models. The handle shape/length hasn't been a problem with the two razors so far. Tomorrow I shave with the long handled J1.

There is differences between razors of the same model for sure. I also agree that the shorter handles are no problem at all. Some prefer the long handle on the J. I have never really seen problems one way or the other.
VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!

I love this....So far, it's like dejavu.....Although it's been decades since I've shaved with an L....So I am very curious how the L type will fair against that G1!

I am curious also. It's too bad I have to wait 24 hours between shaves. If I stay on schedule, the L will be the Sunday morning shave.
I might do more comparisons after the initial 4. Perhaps revisit the dreaded Type E.

I'm not cheating, actually I started my Repeater week last Friday, a few days before Jay, so my conscience is clear....lol! Anyway, this G6 I won still knocks me out.....Like the man said, Super Close But So Very Easy.....and no dangerous blade fell, but this rascal is shaving very close! }8^)) We could all do alot worse than these steller G types....WOOT!

This is Saturday, and I don't have to go to work right away. That means I can write about my shave with the long handled Type J razor. Maybe it is my imagination, but this one seemed even more mild than the first two. Beginning with my first "with the grain" pass, I seriously thought that there wasn't a blade in it. But, ironically, something left a 1/4" scratch on my face. Might have been the end of the blade not centered within the razor when it was loaded. No blood, just a little red scratch. After checking the razor, I found that yes, there was a blade there. I made sure it was centered by nudging the end of the blade a wee bit. The rest of the shave continued in grand fashion. Second pass was against the grain. Another smooth, clean, close shave in the books. Except for that odd scratch, no nicks, no fouls, no irritation. I did notice the handle on this one was round, oval to be more precise. And it was long. I glanced in the mirror during the shave and found that the last inch of handle was sticking out in mid air, neither getting in the way, nor aiding the hand to grip the razor. Both of these differences made no positive or negative impression on me. It was just different. Finished off with witch hazel, then Nivea balm with a drop or two of Skin Bracer "Wild Moss". What a way to start a Saturday! Tomorrow, the Type L!

That's a pretty razor. Glad yours shaves well also. It's so easy, it is almost not fair. I can see right now that I will designate a future injector to be my "No nonsense, no drama, quick and easy shaver".
