Ya know I got into old fashioned shaving in dribs and drabs mostly 'cause I wanted to save a buck. Of course I discovered that the shaves were better to boot. But then something else crept in, the next thing ya know you have umpteen bazillion blades a whole caboodle of things to put the blades in and a bunch of stuff to smear on yer face before and after ya do the deed. Next ya get polish, polishin' rags and on and on it goes... next thing ya know yer wife starts to look at ya like ya lost yer mind! Whatsupwitzat?
How did this happen (not that it ain't fun)? What gives? I mean it seems there is no end to the exploration you can do, it's "oo oo look at that", "check ths out", "have you tried this?"... Wow!
What's around the next bend? Am I around the bend? All these thoughts come up and of course if those around you that have observed this business are thinkin' all kinds of things about you. Forget about it and wax on enthusiastically about shaving with yer workmates and look out for the weird looks! People think yer joking when you tell 'em about your great 1912 whatsamagigger and say things like "you don't actually shave with that thing do ya?"
Come on, hey people collect all kinds of stuff that have no practical use like, baseball cards, postage stamps, bottle caps, beer cans and let's not forget my all time favorite... vintage barbed wire, and they call us weird.
So here we are! Have fun either way.

Yea. You get use to the looks. Try adding in you own shave forums and make shave videos. I get a lot of side eye.

Yep, it's a bit weird, but it is useful and fun.

Yup, that often happens.
I ran out of room in my first cabinet and so built a shave cabinet. I was running out of room in that and considered another cabinet. Instead I had a heart to heart discussion with myself and realized that the that the solution wasn't more storage, but me just saying, "NO", to myself. I also realized at pretty much the same time that no matter what I bought my shaves simply couldn't get any better.

Face it man, we're mentally ill and socially isolated. Now go straighten that third razor on the left, it's not precisely aligned with the others!

I feel like one of the wackiest guys around. I started with a 1912 and then acquired more SEs, injectors, and unmentionables along with strops, soaps, creams, and after shaves. But that was not enough. I had to turn to making my own shaving brushes which now number 300. Then I made wooden razor handles, and most recently, I created a wooden single edge open comb razor. What is next? Who knows... It is a big Wabbit Hole.

Each razor has its precise spot in my cabinet, and if one is ever so out of place it bugs the $#it out of me and I wonder, "Now WHY was that one out of its place?!" I'm not weird, right? Right?! RIGHT??!!

I've heard that some of "those" people actually go outside, and intermingle with other normal people,... strange, man,.. strange....

Yea but it could all be a facade... really remember the "Truman show", I keep thinking "watch out a stage light might drop on ya one day". I also keep looking for the walls!

With the exception of work I tend to not like people. My sister always says this is how I attemp to interact with the world. Silly woman.....
