My very first SE razor was a Schick E2. My wet shaving technique was underdeveloped (i.e., it sucked), but I was happy to be done with plastic garbage and thought I was invincible with some unmentionable experience under my belt. My E2 taught me some valuable lessons -- like pressure matters, angle matters, and direction of beard growth matters....duh. But I was (and still am) a slow learner, and after a few exceptionally close (12 hours and I couldn't feel stubble) shaves with extreme irritation (lower neck looked like I shaved with a cheese grater), I (gently) put the razor down and slowly backed out of the room.
After a significant time spent with many other SE's, and having learned much from this excellent forum, I decided to invite the E2 out for a shave. The first pass WTG, where 2 days of growth just visually disappear like magic. The second pass XTG takes care of 90% of the stubble I had felt (but couldn't see) after the first pass. And the 3rd pass -- which is where I'm usually exceptionally overconfident and often careless and stupid -- was done with respect and carefully....some ATG on the cheeks (which is safe for me) and some XTG passes in the opposite direction in the sensitive areas.
It was an awesome shave. I'm really not sure that I can get a closer shave from any of my other razors, the E in E2 has to stand for "Efficiency" (although I know that's not where it comes from). So the story has a happy ending, but I have to say that after 3 passes, I thought I felt a little something on my upper lip by my nose...maybe a stray whisker. Not a problem, I'll just throw some witch hazel on it and do a quick little maneuver. Just as I confidently grab my E2 and head for the whisker, I felt a slight bite right at that little divot under the nose....and the red appears. The E2 reminding me that while we've made up, it is still to be respected!!!

Nice story. I believe not all E2's are the same. I have 2 and once is smooth and comfortable. The other I call a "face-eater". I haven't given up and, like you, I'll learn to like the more aggresive one. After all any razor is merely the vehicle to deliver the blade to your face. Technique will eventually always win.

I thoroughly agree -- technique absolutely wins...eventually!!! I have also heard others speak of a large variation between various E2's. I wouldn't mind getting a kinder-gentler model, but I certainly can't argue with the results I get from my Tasmanian Devil version.

So, what I'm hearing is ......... Technique trumps tools! I am glad that this is starting to sink in. Once we get this battle won, we can work on the pesky other myths. I have my injectomatic. I need to give it more love, it shaves well, and forces one to be dead level on with technique. I just don't like it as much as my other razors. No worse of a shave and it is comfortable innuse. I suppose I will break down and buy more blades from Andrew for it and give it another go here soon . Fred, I have no first hand knowledge of the variance of the injector razors, however, I have heard the same thing.

What a great story! I have not tried an injector... well I have not used a SE razor yet! I am trying to get started on my journey. Injector razors seem to be on the aggressive side from what I have read. I can not wait to get a bunch of SE razors and great shaves.

The Schick g1 razor is easy to use. Along with an l1. My own personal experience.

Injector razors seem to be on the aggressive side from what I have read. I can not wait to get a bunch of SE razors and great shaves. Actually, most injectors are mild...It's the E2 that opens that started the stories...But that one, although very efficient, is also VERY smooth. I think all the injectors actually have less of a learning curve that the SE's in general. I love both though... Aside from the slightly more of a learning curve, the sounds of my Ever Ready 1914, 1924, Lather Catcher, and GEM 1912, Auto Strop A1and GEM OC Damaskeene singing are one of the Joys of Shaving. That audible feedback and in some cases the vibrations through the handle (ex. the lather catchers) takes shaving to another level entirely!! But...injectors have their own magical web that they weave...For one thing, their simplicity, light weight and easy manueverability...And they are very intuitive...The I2 is very mild and effecient...It recieves quite abit of love around here..Because it is mild, it inspires highspeed feats of reckless abandom. I also love the light weight and efficient E2, for the opposite reason...Because you can really feel the blade edge, and that blade edge feedback I dig...After you try it, you'll know what I mean. And don't forget the Schick Repeaters...Great Shavers and what mechanical works of Art!! These guys were so far ahead of their time, that no one has caught up yet!! Somebody Stop Me!! Man you guys know what buttons to push to get me "off and running"!!😁

These are all great comments, and I love hearing what injectors people are really fond of. As for me, I recently picked up a Hussy -- oh and I got a Schick type H too! 😂😂😂. My apologies for the locker room humor -- I may be old enough to be an AARP member, but I still have the sense of humor of a twelve year old. For those not familiar with the Schick type H it is also referred to as the "Hussy". It was known as the Ladies Fashion razor. I picked one up after spending some time on this forum and hearing how much folks liked theirs. I've not tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. My issue will be posting about it without phrasing all of my comments as double-entendres.
As for my E2 -- which I'll post pics of here soon, mostly because my ability to ID razors isn't stellar and I'd like to verify that what I'm calling an E2 is indeed an E2 -- it is a great razor, and the angle is super intuitive to use. My only issue (and it's definitely my issue not the razor's) is that it cuts so well and so efficiently that if I'm not careful on my lower neck to only go WTG or XTG and with very light pressure, I can give myself some wicked irritation. It's why I was so pleased to use it the other day and come away with an awesomely close shave and no irritation....just a small self-inflicted under-the-nose nick (which I've been known to do with several of my razors).
I've heard great things about most Schick types, which has been kicking up my desire to explore things like the Type I and the newer Type O clone (with a twinjector blade). Rabbit hole here I come!!!

So here are a couple of shots of what I've been calling an E2 -- for those in tune with the "typing" system -- is it really a Schick E2? Or have I been misidentifying all this time....wouldn't be my first time doing that!!! I can take better (or at least more) photos if mine don't provide enough info.

It has a fixed spring with flaps on the spring. The parallel grooves on the safety bar make it an E3 I believe. It is still a great little razor.
