John, just gorgeous! I want to shop where you shop!
You have to know I was immediately drawn to the LC.
I'm far from being an expert, but it sure appears to me to be in Waits on page ASR 6, 1911-12 on the right.
$20 huh? You stole it! I have dibs if you ever sell it!

razorx,
thanks man. Not only do I like the looks of the military set, but was really blown away at what a great shaver it is. Wow! Didn't see that one coming.
Glad you like it.
RocketMan,
Thanks for the edits! Man, I'm really slow with this computer stuff. But you made 'em look good. Appreciate it!
HT, glad you like 'em. I really got lucky!
SD, you got it pard, in the unlikely event that the LC ever goes on the block, you got dibs. Also appreciate the estimate on the year of production. Good stuff. It's also a really great shaver.

John I'm betting the shave is very much like the black one you used not so long ago. They're brothers. One huge difference, yours is gorgeous!

SD,
I think maybe I've used this one more consistently and more days in a row. Perhaps it's all in my head? Anyway, I'm lovin' the shaves with it.
Also am quite impressed with the '14. Wow!

I'm actually happy that I'll never see that razor John. It's only right that you enjoy it since you liberated it.
I love my LCs.
I'm teetering on the edge of mothballing my '14s. I have a love/hate relationship with the one in the cabinet. The last shave wasn't what I expect from a SE shave (easy BBS). The previous shave was. I just can't figure it out and the variable is me. Maybe I need to use it for a week or 2 . I think that's just what I'll do.

I know I need to use a razor consistently to learn it well enough to make it perform at it's best.I went through a slump with my Streamline where I started to have some serious doubts but I stuck with it and ultimately took it's performance to a much higher level that I'm definitely content with. That being said and tomorrow (Sunday) being shave 14 on my current blade..... John and Brian's comments have conspired to inspire me to begin an extended run with one of my 14's..... The only question is which '14? Original or Extra Crispy? The knurled round handled '14 or the hex handled Touring Deluxe version ?

My vote is round knurled handle. You'll have to let us know how it goes. Have fun.

I've decided to start early.Tomorrow I'll begin with an old blade that will be on it's 14th shave.I was going to wait until Monday and begin with a new blade but felt like starting now. I had the hex handled Touring Deluxe locked and loaded but I'm going to follow your advice and pull out the older knurled round handled '14...It's the one I'm more familiar with,I can always run the Touring Deluxe later in the week, time will tell.

Razorx, I brought out my spare '14 with the knurled handle. I've never used it. I've been "accused" in the past :-) of being the only person to ever think the '14 is mild. Maybe it's that particular razor with the hex handle in the touring set I have. I did want to get the spare '14 replated before using it, but if I can't get along with the razor there's not much sense in putting $ into it.
So for 2 weeks I'm going to use the '14 exclusively. I sure hope I don't hate myself for making that decision.

Greetings
This comment by Razorx fascinates me, the streamline is the one SE razor that I just can't seem to 'get to grips with', there is just something about the razor that at the minute I am unable to master and frankly I have no idea what it is.
I did think there was something wrong with the one I own but it is perfect, it's mediocre performance is 100% down to me and my technique (or lack of it with this razor) As a result instead of using it more I have tended to use it less.
This is the only SE I have any difficulty with and I wonder if the razor only gives it's best when used daily or for protracted periods like Razorx describes.
Like many others I feel the Streamline is the best made and best looking of the GEM's/ER's but for me it's the hardest to get a perfect shave from, I clearly need to work at it!
Regards Dick.

Dick-
Here's what I've learned about the Streamline:
No matter which razor I use, during the shave I rinse it regularly in a small plastic container of scalding hot tap water that I keep on the counter next to the sink. This is especially important for the Streamline.
My routine is: With the grain and against the grain near the ears, then across the grain everywhere else including neck.Find the most effective shaving angle then quick short ear to nose strokes. While not excessively heavy the Streamline has some good weight to it...I've learned to maintain a light grip and with the proper angle to let the razor "float" I finish with against the grain on the neck.
That's what works for me.
Shaving with it exclusively for a while will let you find it's sweet spot and your hands eventually remember,so that it becomes automatic.Again: Rinse frequently in HOT tap water to keep it free of lather/soap gunk.
Hope something in there proves to be helpful.

I'll be right there with ya on a 2 week run with the '14 Brian Having had the knurled round handled and smooth hex handled '14s out last night I can say there's quite a difference in feel. The hex handle appears to be shorter and it is but not by as much as it feels in hand, the hex handle feels shorter and heavier which definitely gives these 2 razor dissimilar handling characteristics.Another difference is the older knurled round handled version transmits considerably more audio & tactile feedback, almost feels "alive" in my hand. I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of seeing where I am with the '14

John Sounds good to me John,I started today with a veteran blade that had been in my Streamline for 13 shaves.... Weird,I'll be damned but in the ER '14 that old blade felt like it had another week of shaving left in it.... I still added a new blade today and thus begins 2 weeks of ER '14 goodness
