Greetings Monday 8th April 2013 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Contour Blade: GEM Super Stainless Vintage Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed Soap: Cella Aftershave: La Toja Balm These old blades came with this razor which was NOS so I suspect the blades are late 70's to early 80's. The blades shave quite well I suspect they are not coated. A very nice shave from this mild razor. GEM's penultimate offering before they ceased production. Regards Dick.

1924 Shovelhead Vintage Gem NOS Stainless Steel Blade VDH Boar Brush VDH Select Soap Stephans Bay Rum AS I must be on the same wavelight as Dick today. Great shave with the old blade in the 24. Greetings Alan My blades came with a Contour, which as far as I can tell was made from about '77 to '83, I saw a listing on E-bay the other day that showed a Contour 2, GEM's final razor and that had a packet of these same blades with it so I guess they were made for several years. They seem really quite good, the jury is out for me whether they are better than the Modern GEM Stainless PTFE Coated blades but as I only have another four I guess it does not matter much! Regards Dick

MMCP Treet D-2 Small Generic Boar Williams WH Stetson Cool Moisture
Outstanding shave, The Williams was perfect and the three day beard was wicked away by the Clog Pruf. Gotta love it when a plan comes together.

Tuesday Arko Shave Stick/Omega 10029 ER 1912 OCMM Gem SS d1 Old Spice AS Today was fantastic...My first SE shave with something other than an injector I did the first half of my 1st pass with the 1912...finished the 1st pass and did the 2nd and 3rd passes with the OCMM....and did my ATG touch-ups with the 1912.... Think the reason I did so much of the shave with the MM is because it surprised me with how easy she shaved....But then I was also so impressed with the 1912 that I returned to her for the touch-ups.... Can't wait til tomorrow...

09 April 2013 Pre: Proraso Crema Pre BarbaRazor: Rhodium GEM OCMM + Pella PTFE (3) Brush: Elite7 Scarlett + WSP HMW 23/50 Soap: Martin de Candre - Savon À Raser (65)AS: Krampert's Finest Menthol
With the release of the new Fougére shave soap from Martin de Candre this morning (yep, set alarm and ordered at 1:45am) I really enjoyed today's shave using the Signature MdC scent. It's the only scent that I've found I can use and enjoy on a daily basis without tiring of it. In fact, the more I use it the more I enjoy it. For me, MdC is the best shave soap on the planet and I will happily pay the high shipping price to get it. 65 uses (heavy loads) and the soap is just now below the screw-top portion and getting a concave dip in the center.

Thursday HOT!! Shower-Whisker shampoo & conditioner Arko SS/Omega 10029 Baby-Pro WTG-ATG& clean up passes with: ER 1912-Gem SS d3 Extra Clean-up pass with: OCMM-Gem SS d3 Arko-Nem moisturizer/Old Spice AS
Starting to see some patterns....Today laid the 1912 flatter and could get 3 passes with minimal irritation.... but because of the milder cutting angle the clean-up pass with the Micromatic was still necessary... Tomorrow will experiment with starting the shave with the Micromatic.... Blade was on day 3...showing no signs yet of wear, only shave was smoother but still no tugging...not one pull...
Although I used to like my Gillette Slim on #9, I've never considered myself an aggressive razor junkie...but I do find if I can effectively rid my face of whiskers in fewer passes, my skin is happy with that...I never was even interested in even trying the Micromatic...especially the OCMM...But this one is suprising me with every stroke!...I believe I might be falling in love...lol...or is it just infatuation??
