You know....I love the Dewars 12, but it cost the same as Glenlivet 12, which is a fine Single malt....And Monkey Shoulder cost less and is a blend of nothing but Single Malts, a Vatted Malt or Triple Malt, if you will.....and as you said, White Horse cost half as much as Dewars 12...and White Horse is a damn fine blend with a touch of Lagavullin and other Islay Single Malts.....
Hmmmm.....Kinda makes it hard to part with $40 for the Dewars 12 when the Monkey Shoulder is just plain better when 'neat' and $5 cheaper....and has a higher ABV...and the Glenlivet 12 is the same price....It's a shame, because that Dewars 12 is veddy veddy nice....they need to drop that price aboot $10, to make it competitive. You Dig? Then, it would be a hard decision....right now though, it's kind of a no-brainer....lol!

Hmmm, In the past I regularly would buy liquor that was unobtainable in Maine from CA. Never any questions. As long as I had the $ they had the booze.
Your logic is flawless as long as you don't have a hankerin' for a different taste. If that happens logic be damned. The expensive stuff doesn't come out except on special days in my home.

FWIW, I always like to have a spare "on hand" of things that I like. My spare bottle of Whitehorse was opened a few weeks ago and it's been on backorder ever since. Normally it arrives on the next scheduled truck, within days.

Hi there, my friends! Tomorrow I will be attending the Milan Whisky & Fine Spirits Festival, there will be lots of distilleries represented, with the possibility to taste and buy their their products. Any suggestion on something (out of the usual names) I should definitely try? Monkey Shoulder (about which I learned in this topic) will be one, for sure.... maybe you american friends have some fine bourbon to recommend?

I'd help on the bourbon if I could, but not much into bourbon myself. You're not being ignored is my point.

Just copped a $30 bottle, WITH a $4 refund coupon too, of Glenmorangie10 'The Original'
With that coupon...that makes it $26!!!
I've had the 12yo Glenmorangies, and the ones I have tried have all been STELLAR!! but I've actually never tasted the Original 10yo that is the biggest selling single-malt in Scotland...and is the basis for all their 12s.
Sooo,.....taste GREAT!!!
There it tis!! I need to go back and cop a couple more and send those rebate coupons in...The is an unbelievable $26 Scotch...Hell,...it's an unbelievable $30 Scotch! Like Bryan's point...Great is Great...no point in too much analysing...The good folks at Glenmorangie have done it again!!

Heres my latest...
So I've been going nuts trying to score some "White Horse" ever since this thread got started and to no avail...
Then the other day I read Brian's St Patty's Day thread and it got me fired up again..
Well I call all my usual places to shop Scotch and everyone assured me once again yhat WH is not available here in WA...Well today I located it in Portland Ore...So I figure I'll drive down there between now and the Holidays and this year we can all have a WH toast at TOST for New Years..lol!!
THEN...remember earlier in this thread...many months ago, I said there was a small Liquor Store close by where an Arabic cat told me he would try to get it....Well later today I also step into that small liquor store...first time since back then...and that same cat behind the counter said THERE YOU ARE!!...Seems last Friday he got 7 bottles..and he had lost my number over the past few months..
So it turns out, the Dist. had it all along but their computer screwed up and has been saying "unavailable" on their web site...and still does..
Sorry for the long post...
I usually never imbibe during the day...But I couldn't wait...I enjoyed a wee dram as soon as I got home!
This stuff is BETTER than I remembered...My opinion...BEST BLEND!! Tastes like a Single Malt...and a good one at that..and a wee bit SMOKEY aswell!
Thanks Brian. for rattling my cage again about the Horse!

Glad you were able to score it! Yeah, it's pretty decent "everyday" scotch!
Not scotch, but it's also pretty decent... An Irish, I don't remember where I heard of it, maybe it was here and if it was I apologize in advance.
It's Connemara and it's a peated single malt. I like it. (www.kilbeggandistillingcompany.com) Pay attention to what they want for your birthdate in the order they want it.
