Wednesday 5th December Yaqi Al Tux - Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood - General Brass - Schick Proline P #9 - Alum - Boots Freshwood A/S - Dove Instant Hydration cream I am on the fence about these Yaqi brushes. Are they really as good as people claim? Your looks amazing, and I'm super jealous, just wondering about performance.

Flintstone how do you like that Yaqi brush? I am on the fence about them. Everyone seems to be giving them high marks. They look really nice, but I just want to know if the performance is as good as other brands, or of it just a fad. Strictly speaking on performance, not form. They look awesome, and I want one just because they look so good. But it is hard to justify buying one, if it doesn't work as well as others.

Williams Wednesday is alive and well. My dad called me at the butt crack of dawn to ask me a formula to figure amps if the watts and volts are known... After I fully woke up and had my coffee, I knocked out a great shave with the Williams and the Stetson original. Thanks to my wonderful Italian friend for the razor, the injectomatic worked wonders. I got the Stetson in a 3 pack buy from Walgreens. They have a few others that I will stock up on. I love the "Fresh" if anyone wants to get me a Christmas gift.... _

It's solid aluminium and it appears turned. It weighs in at 95g. It appears the same 24mm knot as my Sagrada Familia (76g). The glue bump is slightly lower. It's very comfortable in the hand. Here's a comparison pic: TBH, I can't fault them and have had great pleasure using them. They have some great looking brushes.

RazoRock syn. 24mm P & B Pall Mall King Cobra Schick Proline [ 8 ] Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion Another getting to know Shave with the KC, which is my most aggressive and intimidating AC/SE Razor. Am pleased that so far by not rushing and taking care I have had no mishaps, and today was probably the best finish I have got with it.

They look really nice, but I just want to know if the performance is as good as other brands, or of it just a fad. Strictly speaking on performance, not form. They look awesome, and I want one just because they look so good. But it is hard to justify buying one, if it doesn't work as well as others. I am a fan, but I should say that to date I've been exclusively a synth user. I've got a RazoRock Plissoft 24mm, a Maggard 18mm travel size, and 2 Yaqi's (26mm Timber Wolf and 24mm Mew Brown knots). Aside from the handle and knot sizes, I find very little difference in lathering capability and face-feel between my non-Yaqi and Yaqi's. My limited research suggested that many-to-most of the synthetic knots are coming from China and many-to-most of those are coming from Yaqi. As to the Yaqi's themselves, here's what I like: 1. They are inexpensive. I got both of mine on sale and I paid $11 for the Timber Wolf, and $14 for the Mew Brown -- those prices included shipping. Shipping, by the way is SLOW....expect at least 2 usually 3 weeks. I got mine from the Yaqi storefront on Aliexpress, and they do take PayPal, which is very important to me when dealing with offshore-online retailers. 2. The fit and finish has been good. The handles are smooth, no rough/sharp spots, and the look/colors have been consistent with the pics. The knots are set well and keep their shape with use. They have good splay, but I find them firm enough to stand up to hard soaps. I haven't noticed any glue bumps, so I think the set is good. And I've lost a "hair" on the Timber Wolf, but that's about it for the artificial shed. 3. I'm an face-latherer, and I really like the soft feel of the synthetics -- I won't say my skin is sensitive (especially to you ), but I have more of a Jimmy Stewart than John Wayne complexion/face-type; so the Yaqi soft-feeling synthetics work for my tender mug. 4. Lastly, I like the no-fuss, no-muss use and maintenance of all synthetics. I don't bloom soaps, and I like not having to pre-soak my brushes. A couple of downsides for me: 1. These seem like large brushes overall. The handles can be a little big for my medium-sized hands -- my 26mm Timber Wolf is much larger feeling in my hand than the 24mm Purple Haze Mew Brown -- so it does depend on the handle style. Mine are also tall handles...basically, these are not tiny/compact brushes 2. They really hold in the water, so you need to be mindful of that when you're using them. If you're not careful, you can really drown your lather or find your face dripping with water. You can easily shake them out, but you need to remember to do that. I think that's an artifact of most, if not all, synthetics. If you're in the market for a synthetic, I don't think you can go wrong with a Yaqi given the price. I would recommend that unless you've got to have a specific handle look or specific synth knot (Timber Wolf, Mew Brown, Tuxedo, Cashmere), you either wait for a sale -- they seem to do them fairly regularly -- or try one they've got on a near-permanent discount ($8 plus $2 to $3 for shipping). Some of their styles have taken-off, and the prices have gone from the teens to the twenties, which for their synthetics seems a little high to me, but I'm a pretty cheap guy, especially when it comes to brushes. Sorry for the long post -- hope it helps.

I have boar, horse and a synthetic, so badger is next. Do they have a virtual store? Or do they sell from other retailers like Amazon, west coast shaving, etc?

That is actually exactly what I was hoping for. A bit more in depth detail than "yes it's good, just buy one'' I'm looking to go with a badger brush. I have boar, horse and a synthetic, so badger is next. Do they have a virtual store? Or do they sell from other retailers like Amazon, west coast shaving, etc? I got mine on the Yaqi store front on Aliexpress (yaqibrush.aliexpress.com); but I just did some searching and it looks like West Coast Shaving (WCS) carries and sells some Yaqi models. You can also find some Yaqi brushes on Amazon, but the vendor fulfilling the order is West Coast Shaving. I would do some online sleuthing to make sure you're getting the best price delivered. You may want to start at the Yaqi storefront on Aliexpress just to see the whole selection, then move over to WCS or Amazon to see if they carry what you want and if the price-delivered is competitive. I notice there are all different kinds of badger brushes (Best Badger, Silver Tip) -- so that combined with the different handles makes for a lot of choice.

I will give that store front a glance. I'm sure that WCS has em, they send me notifications all the time. Thanks for the help, if and when I decide to go that route I'll let you know. Also, with the post office being closed on Wednesday for rememberance of President ush, your package may be delayed. I haven't check the status, but let me know when you get it just to one sure there are no issues.
