December 8th, 2018 -- This wasn't just a Shave-of-the-Day, it was my Shave-of-the-Year. No exaggeration, this was the easiest, most comfortable shave I've had this year. The equipment was: Gem Damaskeene, Gem PTFE (2), Cella and RazoRock 24mm Plissoft. This was my first shave with this razor. It came in the mail today along with some soap (which will be debuting Wednesday, for what will be obvious reasons), and some Treet blades. The package was from a very kind and generous Tost member, who I will not embarrass by providing the two initials we often refer to him os...oops, I mean as. It really is a magnificent shaver, and my plan is to put a mini-review in the Gem forum folder to not only expound on my experience, but also to hear from you other Damaskeene users.

View AttachmentThe Damaskeene is a favorite here, The OC Dammy even more so. Sir OS (Order of the Toady you know) is a great guy. I have not tried Cella but have always heard great things about it. Glad it all worked out for you!!

Great shave with the MM here today. The RazorRock XXX is just awesome. I love this brush ( Semogue 1305) as most here prolly know. It was just a slamming shave. Topped it all off with some Citrus Musk then went for a hair cut. Just a great morning all around.

Late posting but here it is . Bought this shick in an auction and its puzzling me as to what type it is . Head like an E2 but has seamed handle like a G. Shaves more aggressive than my E2 also but seems very smooth. Just says patent 1937. Made in Canada. Injector key says same . Now on to the shave .... The scents were picked out by the misses as we were attending a Christmas party for her work . She absolutely loves the TOBS Eton College. ( Pointed her to Amazon) and the Polo Black she bought for me . Brush is a JR29 badger. Next shave will be the 1912 Gem British made which I purchased from same seller .

Sat 8th Dec. RazoRock Syn. 22mm MWF Alu.General / Claymore Handle Schick Proline [ 5 ] Pitralon Polar A/S Lotion Used the Alu. General today as a follow up to the Hawk, and used the same Handle. It would appear the the Claymore handle works well with both Razor heads , especially as I have slowed down Shaves with these lighter Razors. I now spend a bit more time on polishing up work and find that I can get really close all round finishes, without causing any problems. Of the Two Razors the General may be the smoothest, but I like the blade feel of the Hawk which helps assess the progress of a Shave.

SE Sunday's ShaveCold Water Wash CTAPT Shaving Cream Jayaruh #30 1907 Gem Jr. Original Gem Cutlery SE CWR Granddad's AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The CTAPT Shaving Cream face lathered well with the Jayaruh #30 brush. I did two passes with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher Razor with an Original Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This another of the razors from the auction , British Gem , after sanitizing and tweaking a loose cap, it looks and shaves very very well. Was bent in the mail when it arrived ( Thanks Canada Post) but I think I got it near perfect again, I've never dabbled in repairing these before. It's almost mint and shows very little wear , this is going to be a favorite I can tell.

Sun 9th Dec Vulfix 404 mixed Vitos Super Red Alu. General /Claymore Handle Schick Proline [ 6 ] Pitralon Original A/SLotion As out officiating today, settled for a repeat Shave with the General. Now I have slowed down the shave with the lighter AC/SEs I am getting much better results. Today very smooth with an excellent close all round finish, the Shave made easy by the rich /creamy lather from the Vitos.

It may be too soon in your usage of the razor to tell this, but is there a noticeable difference in the shave between an American Gem and it's British cousin (assuming you've used a comparable American model)? There always seems to be in the unmentionable world. For some reason the British models shaves are usually purported to be a bit more...refined -- may well be a psychological thing and a blind shave test would disprove it.

It does shave different compared to the other Gem i had. And Thanks very much, i think i scored on this purchase.

All the Schicks made in Canada were E types. Even after Eversharp bought Schick. THE Canadian E types were made well into the '50's while the US switched to the G type after WWII...So a Canadian E type with a G type handle is not unusual. The Canadian Types are Great Shavers...Enjoy every stroke!!!

Have another Canadian e2 with butterscotch handle on its way. Gotta thank Fuzzy for pointing me toward the e2.. I reach for it a lot when I need to mow down and ger e.g. smooth .
