Do you gents find a difference in the way the GEM carbon and PAL carbon blades shave? I started with GEM carbon blades from the drug store and compared them to PAL blades from a bulk order. I would be hard pressed to detect a difference.

Same here. It's rare that I don't get at least 20 shaves from a SS PTFE Gem. My record is over 30 shaves. I changed it out due to boredom.

Many uninformed shavers see "Industrial" in the description for single edge razor blades and make the automatic assumption that they are unusable for shaving, crap blades and only suitable for paint scraping. Single or double facet single edge blades do not shave well. Many have a .012" thickness and have an "Industrial" description. These are the utility blades used for paint scraping. Single edge blades suitable for shaving need to have a 3 facet bevel edge. All the blades I have seen have a .009" thickness. It doesn't matter that the word "Industrial" is in the description if it meets the requirements above. They will shave, just like the five pack of blades you pick up in your CVS. I'm going to have to have a different opinion here. To me they're is a night and day difference between the CVS CS blades and the bulk Gem and Pal 3 facet blades. Two years ago I bought several hundred of the bulk CS Pal and Gem blades (.009 3 facet part no 62-1076 and 62-1077) and the shaves were awful, uncomfortable, and tuggy. I later bought a dispenser of the store brand CVS CS blades and they were so smooth and sharp that I though that there was no way these two blades came from the same manufacturer. I don't know if they strop ot polish the blade in some additional manufacturing step but they feel vastly different to me.

I would be hard pressed to detect a difference. I think they are the same also. I like the PAL Supers more...I guess because of looks. The shaves are the same for me.
