Who likes to fish and what do you fish for? I live in Minnesota, land of 10k lakes, officially we have 12 or 14 thousand of them. So there is a lot of fishing to be had here.
My favorite fishing though is not on a lake. I like river fishing a lot more. I particularly like catfishing. Not necessarily going for the monsters, but a few good eating size are a lot of fun. I fish the Minnesota River mostly, but it's way too high at the moment. It's been flood stage or above since mid March and I don't think it will be at a level I like to fish for at least another month and that's with no additional rain, which isn't likely.

I love fishing, but due to circumstances I haven't really done any for about 5 years. Most of my rods and reels are gone now but I had about 25 at one time. Did a lot of freshwater fishing growing up but really like salt surf fishing. As far as eating goes, trout are my favorite freshwater eater and pompano, swordfish, and Mahi Mahi my favorite salty water.
Does anyone remember Gadabout Gaddis?

Grew up in Lake County Florida, we rival Minnesota for number of lakes , and lived in the deep South for my entire life. Grew up fishing for large mouth bass, specifically Florida large mouth, with have a very black upper body. However, my favorite fishing is to use a fly rod, and catch slab crappie ( white or black, and bream) pound for pound nothing fights as hard as a slab panfish on a day rod. I also enjoy trout fishing and am lucky to have fished Greer's fairy lake for Brown and rainbow trout. I love to cook frsh caught trout over embers of a camp fire with a bit of creile seasoning a bit of salt, pepper and butter all wrapp d in Tim foil, placed over an ember. Matter of fact, I'm teaching my nephew to fish now, he's only 6, but that's when I learned and fell in love with the hobby! Looking forward to y'all's "fish" stories!

I grew up in Southern MN where the lakes are 8-10 feet deep dishpans with no structure, now I live close to MPLS and the lakes are better. We have bass here and I do enjoy fishing them. When I was a kid, southern MN lakes were mostly bullhead factories. In the last 20 years, many have become good walleye lakes as there is a sub species that does well in that type of lake. Though Florida bass get huge. A 5lb largemouth in MN is a nice fish and is easily at least twice as old as one from down South as our fish only grow in the summer, winter they mostly just sustain and stay alive. Crappie taste great and are a lot of fun. I find any fish in the river generally a good fight as they use the current and because they have to swim against it they are stronger. I enjoy playing them out vs using a winch. I would love to fish "down South" sometime. I have in-laws, Winter Texans that are in Harlingen, so sometime I need to plan to fish there. Kids and fishing can't be beat.

Isn't that just NW of Orlando? I spent a lot of time around the Mims/Titusville area back in the 80s and 90s. Indian River, Mosquito Lagoon, Playa Linda Beach, Ponce De Leon, so many great places. I still have a T Shirt from "The Last Resort" in Daytona.

Lake okochobee as well. Also, of you like catching Peacock bass, they are well stocked down near Miami.

We are having the same flood water problems here. I love to fish. Mostly catfish. Living in South Louisiana plenty of places to go. I also love to jig for panfish. White perch (sac a lait) and bream are great! Once the flood waters go away I will be back at it.

We used to be the salmon capital here but striped bass took over . We have the striper cup and get participants from all over and its getting bigger every year. Also good trout fishing too. Mostly rivers and streams here . Few lakes but they are a bit of a drive from where I am.

I like to fish, i grew up down here in the Florida Keys, not much else to do but fish. I spearfish, rod and reel, I have a bow fishing rig and I also net fish. I also am a tropical fish collector and catch fish for peoples aquariums.
As far as eating fish, I eat em all, but anything saltwater is top in my book.

I don't fish, but my son likes to fish and takes his boys. This is a peacock bass he hooked on the Amazon River. It was catch and release.

I'll eat 3 or 4 during the summer. The catfish on the other hand, are generally all for eating and due to the pollution in the river, I like 'em smaller and a couple of meals a month. Very sad about the pollution. Panfish - as us Northerners call 'em. Bluegill, crappie, sunfish. Are very good and the lakes are clean enough there is no pollution concern.
