After reading about the 1914, I'll have to give this little beauty a whirl. Have you tried it yet joeh? They're great looking razors! Nice snag!

Those are good razors. Mine gives a very smooth shave. I may have to try it again sometime.

Well I just had my maiden voyage with the lovely young ER'14 from Arizona, thanks Alan...I must say, she was everything I could have dreamed of. When she arrived, her blade cover was just a tad out of alignment and there where a couple spots on the handle...So to freshen her up after her trip I polished her up like a new penny with some polish cloths that I use on silver trumpets...Then I fooled around for a minute with the door alignment and just decided to remove the door and reshape and realign the hinges in the back, replace the door and she looked quite fetching...In fact this one is the coolest looking razor in the house...This morning she returned my efforts with as grand a shave as I've ever had... I can see why some complain about loading a blade in these '14s...I had to practice loading and unloading a few times to learn the moves...now it all feels pretty normal and relaxed...It took me a minute to learn how to control that door. But now it all feels cool.. This one and the '24 are both "loud singers"....I love that... This one also has a crazy tactile feedback. Not only do you hear every whisker getting cut, you can feel the action in your finger tips...Yep she's quite the 'Wild Child'. I can see why Marc said the only problem he had shaving with the 1914 was shaving around that big smile he gets whenever he uses one...lol. Same here, This one wins the award for being the most entertaining razor, she's truly unique...She is definitely a contender for my favorite razor...Tom told me he bet I would love the 1914 alot....Well Tom, you got that right!...There isn't anything about this razor I don't love....

Heres the ER '14 I received from Alan....He said he thought it was a good one to see if you liked the'14 and then could get a better one.....I think she's gorgeous, and in many ways, the hippest looking razor in the house...I wouldn't even think of replating...And I would be hard pressed to find any razor who could beat her shave.... THANKS ALAN

Man, that sure looks way better than it did when I sent it to you. It's like a whole different razor. Great job! Can I get those polishing clothes at a music store?

Man, that sure looks way better than it did when I sent it to you. It's like a whole different razor. Great job! Can I get those polishing clothes at a music store? Sure...any music store that carries horns and school band stuff...I use the 'Blitz Metal Care' Cloths. There is also a Laquer Finish cloth, you don't want that, but the Metal Care is for Gold and Silver.... I'll tell you, I had a hard time getting a picture because she was shining too much...Finally for these I closed the curtains...ha,ha....This cheap phone camera really doesn't do her justice...She's a solid 'looker' and shaver, I can't keep my hands off her... This razor pretty much has plenty of everything I like about Traditional Wet Shaving.

Been eyeing these for a while after falling in love with my 1912. Decided to pull the trigger last night on one that is supposedly in mint condition but the box is shot. Can't wait!

Soap will release superglue in time - it's worth a go, but I'd also look at epoxy resins. Loctite, Araldite and so on ... I thoroughly enjoyed my practice shave with mine the other night, all ready for the 24th, eh?

I think I'd try to find rivets of the proper size or something other, maybe silver solder (?) to reconnect it. I would NOT silver solder it, but make a mechanical connection by tapping with a hammer, that is, riveting.

Today decided to shave with a 1914,which previously I had decided I liked- hence the small collection. Had not used one for some time, so chose one not used before. This time one with the larger stops.Got a really smooth & easy Shave, which was also very close. I personally find it to be milder than the ER 1912 & 1924 , and to be honest gives a better Shave.
